シルバーウィークの最終日、9月23日に岐阜県長良川サービスセンターにて開催されたKINAN COUPE DE AACA第9戦のレポートです。
晴天に恵まれた第9戦は地元の愛三工業や、コラッジョ川西、京都産業大学、同志社大学、駒澤大学、岡山大学、そして主催するキナンサイクリングチームのメンバーが揃い、プロ選手と若手選手達が熱戦を繰り広げた。
序盤、大集団を嫌った選手達がペースアップを図り大集団がバラバラに分裂。 集団前方で積極的に動いた者達だけの先頭集団が出来上がる。
メンバーは、愛三工業レーシングチームから小森亮平と福田真平、ニールプライド南信スバルの水野貴行、同志社大学の中西健児、コラッジョ川西の米田彰、キナンサイクリングチームからリカルド・ガルシア、ジャイ・クロフォード、野中竜馬の８名。 すぐに水野が遅れ7名の先頭集団となった。そして30秒ほど後ろに20名ほどの第2集団、また30秒後ろに20名ほどの第3集団、さらに後ろに千切れた選手のグルペットができ、風が強い長良川独特のサバイバルレースとなった。
しかし、このまま逃がしてもらえるはずもなく第2集団が追い上げて、30名ほどの先頭集団となり、その後はそれより後ろの第3、第4集団が二度と追いつくことはなく、レースに参加できるのは先頭集団に残った30名ほどのメンバーのみとなった。
再びアタックがかかり今度は小森と阿曽圭佑(キナンサイクリングチーム)の2名が10周回目に設けられた周回賞を前にして抜け出しに成功。
二人は逃げを確実にする為、周回賞は争わずにローテーションのタイミングで先頭を引く阿曽が周回賞を獲得し、そのまま逃げ続けた。 後半に入り後続のメイン集団から綾部勇成(愛三工業)、中西、野中、クロフォードが2名に追いつき、これが今日の最終便となった。
阿曽が遅れ、5名で迎えたラスト周回、最初に攻撃を開始したのはクロフォードだった。
しかしすぐに吸収され、最終ゴールに向けた壮絶なアタック合戦から絶好のタイミングで抜け出したのは綾部を振り切った野中だった。 野中はそのまま逃げ切って優勝し、長良川サービスセンター会場では今季3勝目をマーク。 2位には野中を追った綾部が単独で入り、後続のスプリントでクロフォードが3位となった。敢闘賞は中西が獲得した。
